John Agacki began playing guitar at an early age. Though largely self-taught, he later studied with Irish folk singer/guitarist, John Doyle. In his youth he began writing pieces for solo guitar and piano, but later developed his skill as a songwriter. His distinctive music is written in a blend of styles from folk to bluegrass and semi-classical to light rock. However, it is John's love for Irish folk song that has had a strong lyrical influence on his musical lines. His music has been featured on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion," Wisconsin Public Radio's "Simply Folk," The Guthrie Theater of Minneapolis, as well as radio and television.
