Had a wonderful time playing at Dubh Linn's in Duluth with folks singing along to traditional Irish ballads. A very nice touch was having my sister and her partner coming to hear me play as part of her St. Pat's birthday celebration. I hadn't seen them in a couple years. I was asked if I could return next year. This will be my second time celebrating St. Pat's with folks at this fine establishment. Great food and a nice selection of beer and Irish whisky, too.
Old Brule Heritage Society Fundraiser Fun
Had a nice time last night playing with musician friends at the Old Brule Heritage Society's annual fundraiser yesterday afternoon and into the night. The OBHS is responsible for preserving architectural, oral and written history of the area. The most famous is the Davidson Windmill on Highway 13 in Amnicon. This fundraiser was for the restoration of the Monticello school situated in Maple, WI off of Highway 2. Had a great time reconnecting with Russ Darwin, Ted Pellman (former fellow Electric Woodsmen…

Cheryl Haworth and I reunite at Inland Sea Recording in Superior, Wisconsin on Halloween 2017 to rehearse "You're Helping Me And I'm Helping You" for submission to Catch the Moon Music. The spooky orange bandana I wore that evening had patterns of spiders and webs. But since we only had this one narrow time slot to record the song to meet the Nov. 1 submission deadline, that was the scary part, not the bandana.
This original song was written for a brief on "Togetherness." My inspiration came…

John O'gacki is playing on St. Patrick's Day at Carmody's Irish Pub
I will be playing on St. Patrick's Day at Carmody's Irish Pub in Duluth, MN from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. I'm sure to be performing selections from my new CD - "A Little Shamrock Music" that evening, too!. Hope to see you there!
CD of Irish music released soon!
Responding to requests for a CD of Irish music I've been working on the project with Dave Hill at Inland Sea Studio in Superior, Wisconsin. The 18 track CD will have traditional Irish tunes, but with an original guitar instrumental called Bradoyle Jig, inspired by two great Irish musicians and songwriters, Paul Brady and John Doyle. I had the good fortune of studying guitar briefly with John Doyle at a guitar seminar. It has been fun to work little by little on it. I'll keep you updated on its release…

2015 CD Baby Music Conference at the Congress Hotel-Chicago
I attended the first ever CD Baby music conference in Chicago this past weekend as CD Baby is my music aggregator. It was a very informative conference concerning many aspects of the music industry for independent musicians. Like most good conferences, it was impossible to be in more than one place at one time. I will definitely go next year as they intend to hold another. Whether it will be in Chicago or not, I don't know.
It was great to meet other artists and share music and information. People of all…

I had an exciting evening last night! The amazing Irish folk singer and guitarist Paul Brady, performed at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. What a wonderful concert. He did both Irish traditional music and his original compositions. The high point was being able to meet him afterwards at his CD table. I told him my debut CD contained songs I couldn't have written without his unique tunings I'd learned. I showed my Cd and which tunes he'd influenced. He asked if he could have a copy. We'll, I gave…

The concert in Sandstone at the Old School Arts Center went well. Well enough, that I was asked back next year! First half was music from "A Little Music On The Rocks." Second half was Irish/mixed Folk. One fellow bought a CD after he'd heard my wedding song, "Always" from "A Little Music On The Rocks." He and his wife had both lost their spouses, but found each other and love again. They said it was "our song now." That was touching. Irish songs were enjoyed, too. Lots of chuckles. Had a fan from last…
